Instructions

Thank you for your interest in the Electrical Contractors Association of Alberta. We have several different memberships available - find the one right for you below. If your still not sure which is the best fit, contact our office, and we will be happy to assist you. Please note that to be eligible for membership, you must be either an Alberta-based entity (individual or business) or have operational capacity in Alberta.

** Member applications are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Membership Fees

CME (Certified Master Electrician) is a regulatory (individual) member of the ECAA and qualifies for business license exemption within specific cities and municipalities of Alberta. 

Qualifications: active Master electrician (your Masters is current with Safety Codes Council), have completed ECAA's online Ethical Practices for Regulatory Members course, will be completing the work yourself onsite (without employees). Once approved, you can apply for a business license (must be master's first and last name and NOT as a company) and have the fee waived.

Electrical Contractors (Regular Members) refers to Electrical Contractors Companies employing both union and non-union labour. Member benefits include:

  • Member pricing for ECAA events 
  • Access to Member only events and Member only content on the ECAA website
  • Listing on the ECAA Membership Directory
  • Preferred rates through Affinity partners

Any person employed by a company who is actively engaged in the activities associated with the electrical industry. This includes distributors, manufacturers, agents and those who promote professional services through education, safety and strong stakeholder relationships.

Regular Members (Contractors) Rural Membership Year Initial Application.  Applies to communities in or within: Red Deer, Fort McMurray, North East (Lloydminster), Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Journey Person Associate Member: can be a master electrician or journeyman who would like an individual membership with the ECAA.

Persons who made an application and are enrolled in the PEC program.

This membership is offered to any student and/or apprentice who is actively enrolled in a program related to the electrical feild/industry (academic or trades) in Alberta. This membership enables you to attend ECAA events (with member pricing), receive communications from the ECAA, and to take part in our educational opportunities (at member pricing). The Student/Apprentice Membership does not allow for the holder to vote at meetings, nor hold office on either a chapter or provincial executive.

In order to be eligible, you must provide the ECAA with valid student identification (or proof of active enrollment). The Student/Apprentice Membership is renewed annually, to a maximum of 5 years from the date of the initial issuance date, or upon graduation from the member's relevant program. Applicants are eligible to transfer their membership to a full membership (with all regular benefits) at any time, upon applying and being approved by the Board.

This membership category is described as: “Any level of government or government agency that directly employs either union or non-union electricians.”

PEC Retired Member: is an individual PEC no longer working in the industry; and/or whose member company is no longer active. Annual Professional Development points are no longer required.

Retired Member: is an individual ECAA member no longer working in the industry; and/or whose member company is no longer active.
